What is it like to work at folk?

At folk, we consider that the three most important things are:

  • focus: in order to be able to produce high quality solutions which usually comes with being in the zone (or this)
  • priority: so everyone knows why and what we work on right now, why and what we work on next
  • rhythm: we want to make sure we work at a good pace, not spending too much time on small details but not rushing through the core elements. We want to find the right balance.

So exactly, what does this look like within our product & engineering team?

We have decided to implement a project methodology we have humbly called La Cadence™️. describing how we spend our energy and why.

Do you have any team rituals?

We sure do! Here are some of our favorite ones:

🚀 folk-on every Monday to start the week all together and discuss our primary focus.

🔥 Demo time every Friday during which teammates are showcasing achievements of the week.

🌴 folk-off every quarter, to gather the entire team in an amazing and peaceful place. It's a great occasion to meet altogether.

We're working on a 3 months cycle of development & goals for everyone on the team. We organise mid quarter rituals to reflect on current goals, to challenge/review them and to assess potential blockers. And we have end of cycle rituals during our folk-off every quarter where we gather the entire team somewhere really cool to conduct a retrospective, set our future goals, discuss our product roadmap and enjoy some quality time as a team.

☕ Coffee time every day at 1:45PM and some other visio-coffee either with one teammate or the entire team.

🎮 and much more spontaneous moments to chill and relax (lunch, climbing session, hikes etc.)
